Event Reminder: Conference Recap with Bursary Winners is This Thursday

vLex Acquired by Oakley Capital

Last week, Oakley Capital, a major European private equity investor, said that it had acquired majority ownership of vLex , the international legal research platform that lays claim to having the largest collection of legal information on a single service.   On episode 174 of  the LawNext Podcast , Robert Ambrogi, the publisher of LawSites  is joined from London by Masoud Gerami, managing director, vLex Global Markets, who oversees vLex in the UK, Ireland, Asia Pacific, Africa, the Caribbean and North America. They talk about this latest news and what it means for vLex, and also talk more generally about the company and its research platform. For those who haven't met Masoud, he joined vLex in 2019, when it acquired Justis Publishing Ltd., a 33-year-old UK-based online legal publisher. He had been managing director at Justis since 1986. He has a master’s degree in computer science from Swansea University. vLex were a sponser of the ALLA Conference 2022. 

ALLA (NSW) CPD Event: NSW Caselaw: Search tips and tricks

The ALLA (NSW) Chapter has organised a CPD event open to all ALLA Members.  Gain insights into effectively searching the NSW unreported judgments database. Presented by Donna Reece, NSW Caselaw Support Manager - NSW Law Courts Library NSW Caselaw was developed in 1999 to publish decisions for New South Wales Courts and Tribunals administered by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Join ALLA (WA)'s 2022 Conference Bursary Winners - Sky Atkins and Alice Hewitt - as they present a recap of all things ALLA Conference 2022.  An opportunity to share learnings from the sessions, and to catch up in person after all this time. ALLA (WA) Committee Meeting September - Members Welcome!

The ALLA (WA) Committee has their next Committee meeting on Wednesday 14 September  and all ALLA (WA) Members are invited to attend.  Meetings are currently held via Microsoft Teams, and start at 5.10pm.  In addition to our standard Agenda items, this meeting would be a chance to discuss the recent ALLA Conference and ALLA Ltd. AGM, where many concerns and issues around communication, and other topics, were raised. We will also be discussing some upcoming and potential CPD events for our WA Members.  This will be an opportunity to ask questions, make suggestions and air any frustrations.  The ALLA (WA) Committee is also interested in hearing any ideas on how we can serve our Members better.  If you would like to attend please let ALLA (WA) President, David McDowell know by COB Monday 12th September.
