ALLA (WA) Votes to sign the MOU

Last night the ALLA(WA) Members held a vote whether to sign the proposed new MOU with ALLA Ltd. I am pleased to announce that the vote was carried in the affirmative. The President of the ALLA Ltd has been notified of this decision and sends her congratulations to the WA membership. Thank you to the members who attended and sent in their proxy forms. ALLA (WA) President's Corner - Vol. 1 Issue. 2

Hi ALLA(WA) Members Natalie McDonald,  ALLA (WA) President Please see below for an update on the services and events of the ALLA(WA). Upcoming ALLA(WA) PD & Social Events The ALLA(WA) CPD Sub Committee have created a calendar of proposed upcoming events for the 2016/2017 period which have been available on the Calendar of Events page.  One event per month will be arranged (sometimes even two), with nothing scheduled over the December-January holiday period. A brown bag CPD session was held on 13th October where Mawghan Elverd, the recipient of the Wolters Kluwer CCH Conference Bursary, shared some of her highlights of the August 2016 ALLA Conference in Melbourne, Victoria.  All who attended came away with some valuable insights. We thank those who took time to provide feedback after this event. ALLA (WA) President's Corner - Vol. 1 Issue. 1

Hi ALLA(WA) Members Natalie McDonald, ALLA (WA) President Each month I’ll be writing a President's Corner post, letting you know about the services and events of the ALLA(WA). ALLA(WA) AGM We held our AGM on 27th July 2016 where the new 2016/2017 Committee were confirmed.  This term we had a few new members join the Committee Catherine Kafentzis from University of WA Law Library and Stephen Griffiths from the Dept of Attorney General’s Library. The details of the new Committee have been updated on the ALLA website , and our blog. The attendance at the AGM and past AGM’s have been poor and one of our focus’ for this year is to look at ways of improving the attendance either by combining the AGM with another event or holding it at different times (i.e. Breakfast).   If you have any ideas or feedback please let me know. Updating your details on the ALLA website

Did you know that you can update your membership details on the ALLA website ? To log in, enter your username and password. Your username will be firstnamesurname . (Example, Jane Smith would be janesmith.) You can update any personal information listed in your profile by selecting the link to ‘edit your profile’. This will ensure that ALLA's records are up-to-date. It is vital that your email address in particular is current for you to continue to receive messages about events, news and communications. To find your member number:  Select ‘ALLA Member Directory’ Search for your name in the field provided. Your member ID will be shown next to your name. If you do not know your password, enter your email address in the Forgotten Password box. A password will then be emailed to that address. Note that if you originally registered with ALLA with an email address that no longer works, you won’t be able to retrieve your password. In that case, email membership@alla.as...

Supreme Court of WA - Consolidated Practice Directions Update

The Supreme Court of Western Australian Consolidated Practice Directions have been updated. The current version as at 31st March 2015 is available here . The update includes: Complete reissue of the CPD removing designated page numbers to avoid repagination of hard copy document when amendments are issued; Various minor editing changes and contact detail updates.  New PD 5.11 on handling

Extraordinary Meeting

At an extraordinary meeting of the of the Australian Law Librarians’ Association (Western Australian Division) Inc members voted to amend the Rules of the association as follows: Rule 17.1 Quorum and Proceeding at General Meeting Change “attendance by not less than one half of current members present in person, or by proxy” to ‘‘attendance of no less than 15 current members present in person, or by proxy”. The motion was passed by a majority vote.
