Copyright webinar - 13th March 2019

Just a reminder to all ALLA WA members that there is a copyright webinar being held by Greg Taylor and Hari Gavanahalli from the Copyright Agency on Wednesday 13th March at 1pm local time. Surplus law reports, journals, texts available at the Old Supreme Court Law Library Stirling Gardens

The Law Library at the David Malcolm Justice Centre has completed the merger of the Department of Justice Library with the old Law Library at the Supreme Court Stirling Gardens and has identified excess materials that are now on offer to interested parties on a first-come-first-served basis.  These excess materials have previously been offered to universities, the State Library, the Parliamentary Library, government libraries and community legal centres.  As the next step, the surplus materials will be available for viewing by the profession during business hours (8:30am-5pm)  from Wednesday 6  March through to Friday 8  March 2019  by appointment only .  To make an appointment to view the material at the old Law Library at the Supreme Court Stirling Gardens, please email the Law Library at  llwa@justice.wa.gov.au  or call the Law Library Reference Desk on (08) 9264 1498 by 5pm 5 March 2019.  In addition to the material held at the Sup...

A gentle reminder that the launch of the new electronic edition of the Western Australian Law Libraries union list is being held tomorrow at its original intended location. Contacting business librarians

At the ALLA(WA) Christmas breakfast there was some discussion regarding business librarians in WA. Murdoch University hosts the ANZacBusLibs discussion list that is used by Australian and New Zealand business librarians in the corporate, government and academic sectors. The email anzacbuslibs@lists.murdoch.edu.au is used to send a message to all members of the list.   

2019 ALLA Icebreaker - The WALL Launch

Come for the delicious breakfast. Stay and see Gilien Bevan present on The WALL & learn about her experience of boldly going where no WA law librarian has gone before! The WALL database replaces the union list of serial holdings within the state of Western Australia, and will be made available to subscribers this year. The WALL will offer the capability for its subscribers to discover holdings of legal materials held within Western Australia and to request document delivery and inter-library loans. The WALL is coming! Law library industry movements

Natalie McDonald has commenced at Ashurst as a Research Librarian.  This is part time (Monday – Wednesday) replacing Lei Lin who is on maternity leave.  Natalie is also working part time at Williams& Hughes (Thurs & Friday) as a Librarian. Gisella Warman has commenced at Tottle Partners as an Information Resources Manager replacing Kirsty McPhee.  Gisella is working part time, Monday and Wednesday. Kirsty McPhee will be leaving Tottle Partners to take a position with Hancock Prospecting as an Assistant Information Manager.  Kirsty will commence her new role on November 26.   Kirsty will be staying on the ALLA Board as her role is a combination of litigation support and information management.  Kirsty can be contacted via LinkedIn .
