Join us for an informal meeting to hear the Honourable Nicholas Hasluck AM QC provide a short presentation followed by questions and discussion on Sir Lawrence Jackson.

Nicholas Hasluck studied at the University of Western Australia, then Oxford, and went on to serve as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He is well‐known also as a writer whose works include 11 novels and several travelogues. His appointments include Chair of the Australian Literature Board and of the Commonwealth Writers Prize. He is presently on the Board of the WA Art Gallery.

Sir Lawrence Jackson (1913‐1993) was a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He served on the Senate of the University of Western Australia for many years before being appointed Chancellor in 1968. The presentation will cover the highlights of his career including his admission to the Bar in Perth in 1937, his appointment to the Supreme Court in the post‐war period, his involvement in various leading cases including the Button and Beamish cases, and his contribution to the life of the University.

In March 2023 we announced the  closure of the Allgwa list , and welcomed the arrival of the  ALLA (WA) Google Group .  To take full advantage of the Google Group - particularly the ability to deliver news directly to your inbox - the ALLA (WA) Committee has made the decision to cease posting to the ALLA (WA) Blog.  ALLA (WA) Members are encouraged to join the Google Group to make sure they don’t miss out on key news, events, job opportunities from the committee and our members.  Over the past twelve and a half years we've have over 208636 visitors (and still counting) to the ALLA (WA) Blog, from all over the world. The Australian Libraries Copyright Committee is offering training sessions in Perth on Monday, 27 July. The sessions are free to to member organisations and their employees - ALIA, NSLA, CAUL, NLA, AGLIN, NAA, CAARA and Aust Soc Archivists ( note: ALLA is not included ).
