ALLA Awards 2017 - Seeking nominations

Know someone whose done great work over the past year? Now is your opportunity to recognise and celebrate the great people in our industry!

The ALLA Board is pleased to invite nominations for the following awards:

1. ALLA Law Librarian of the Year Award 2017

This award will be given to an individual librarian or technician who, in the opinion of the Scholarship and Awards Committee, has made a significant contribution to the work of ALLA and/or the legal information profession.

2. ALLA Gem of the Year Award 2017

The aim of this award is to recognise outstanding best practice in the field of legal information and education by:

Recognising and rewarding excellence and innovation in customer relations
Promoting awareness of how customer relations initiatives can benefit information professional and suppliers alike
Encouraging high-quality communication
Promoting best practice

3. ALLA Legal Information Service of the Year Award 2017

This award rewards the dedicated performance and outstanding service given by legal information services, law libraries and those teams managing legal collections and services. These awards are unique as they recognise the value and importance of dedicated team work within our sector.

All nominations must be submitted by 15 September 2017. The awards will be announced at the ALLA 2017 Annual General Meeting.

Nominations will be reviewed by a selection panel and the decision of the panel will be final.

ALLA National Board - Nominations Open

ALLA members would have received an email from Emma Joneshart, President of ALLA Ltd regarding a call for nominations for members to join the ALLA Ltd Board of Directors. Nominations will be voted upon at the ALLA AGM, held on Thursday 23 September during the ALLA Virtual Conference 2021 . The ALLA Ltd Board of Directors is an important part of the Australian Law Librarians' Association's governance. Made up of at least eight members of ALLA, nominations are open for the following positions: Vice President Secretary Treasurer Vendor Relations CPD Coordinator General Directors The Vice President position is for a term of 3 years, consisting of a year each as Vice President, President and Past President. The other positions are for a 2-year term, allowing for a sufficient time period to become familiar with the role and have meaningful impact on ALLA projects. In March 2023 we announced the closure of the Allgwa list , and welcomed the arrival of the ALLA (WA) Google Group . To take full advantage of the Google Group - particularly the ability to deliver news directly to your inbox - the ALLA (WA) Committee has made the decision to cease posting to the ALLA (WA) Blog. ALLA (WA) Members are encouraged to join the Google Group to make sure they don’t miss out on key news, events, job opportunities from the committee and our members. All members of the Western Australian Library sector are invited to attend this all day professional development event. Organised as a joint project by representatives from LIS within WA including, ALIA West, ALLA (WA), WASLA, ALIA ARL WA, ALIA HLA, WALTG, TAFE WA Learning Resources Services Network, CURTIS, and with special thanks to the State Library of Western Australia.
