Practitioners' Branch library at the Central Law Courts

Please note, the Practitioners' Branch library at the Central Law Courts will be closing on 20 July 2012, rather than 20 August 2012 as previously noted.  Sorry for the confusion and for full details please see below:

Dear Colleagues

I need to advise you the Practitioners' Branch library at the Central Law Courts will be closing on 20 July 2012.

The decision to close the library has been made by the Department of the Attorney General in keeping with current government  budgetary restraints.
Please advise any of your staff or legal officers who make regular use of this library.

I also need to advise you the Law Library has had to implement budgetary restraints in its collections development that may affect the document delivery and interlibrary loan services it provides. Whilst we do not expect the reduction in our collection to have immediate effect  I suggest if other libraries are considering cancelling titles that they check whether the Law Library is maintaining theirs.

The future of the Law Library as a resource for practitioners in person and for document delivery/ interlibrary loans has been and continues to be under review by the Legal Practice Board and the Department of the Attorney General. Whilst we are going through this period no permanent staff appointments can be made. We will be advertising fixed term contracts to fill our current vacancies.

Normal hours of operation will be resumed when our staffing issues are resolved.

Please note the library is open to users from 8.30am - 5pm.

Document delivery and interlibrary loan services operate between 9am and 4pm.

My most sincere apologies for this break in our service.

Regards
