Message from the President

Dear members,

Welcome to the New Year.

Last year, 2012, was a year of change. The special resolution vote to dissolve ALLA Inc was passed at the AGM. This was the first step in achieving the National Membership Model. Since then, the Commissioner of Consumer Affairs (WA) has approved the wind-up of the national entity of ALLA Inc and the transfer of assets to ALLA Ltd.

We have also introduced new sub-committees such as the Salary Survey Sub-Committee and the Blog Focus Group. Both are working on a number of initiatives and projects.

Our CPD program continues to be successful and well attended. The annual Christmas party is more popular than ever.

This year we aim to do it bigger and better. We will continue to reach out to our members with the initiatives started off by the various sub-committees and also come up with new ones to better serve our members and create a platform for bonding.

The first event of the year is the Icebreaker Breakfast, which will be held on 20 February at the Department of Commerce. We hope to be able to meet all current members and new members during this event and get to know each and every one of you better, allowing you to have a sense of belonging to the Association and making you a part of our ALLA (WA) family. Please RSVP to Linda Simonis if you haven't already done so. This is an event not to be missed.

This year all new members will receive a welcome letter that will outline the benefits of membership. It also contains useful information such as how to access the blog and the ALLA website, as well as on how to stay up-to-date with ALLA news.

Remember that this is YOUR association and I implore every one of you to encourage your colleagues and associates to join the Association and ensure its continued success.

I would also like to encourage more member contributions to the ALLA (WA) Blog. It is a great knowledge-sharing and current awareness tool. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Justin's adventure in New York (post Wednesday, 23 January), so if you have any interesting travel anecdotes or photos that you would like to share, please send them through to Fiona Archibald. We would love to see them!

It is very exciting to be a part of this dynamic group as we continue to grow, and sincerely hope that you will continue to support us by actively participating in our events and providing us with your valuable feedback on how we can serve you better.

I want to wish all of our members a successful and prosperous year.

Regards,

Lei Lin
