What's FLO-ing On?

Back in May we brought you an update on the start of the new National Finding the Law Online (FLO) Project (you can see it here Do you know about FLO?).

Below is an update from the Project Lead, Anastasia Stepanovic, and Project Coordinator, Alice Hewitt.

Since our last update, the Project Team has been hard at work collecting content and finalising learning outcomes for the modules that will cover all Australian jurisdictions.

During this time we've collected an archive of historical FLO content from past coordinators and attendees. Thanks to everyone who has sent materials through for the following years:

  • 2000,
  • 2005,
  • 2009,
  • 2015, and
  • 2017.
If you have materials from another edition of FLO, please contribute to this archive - it's important to keep this piece of ALLA history.

A project milestone was achieved with access to Articulate provided to the team. ALLA National is financing the use of Articulate, as the new National FLO Project will be a truly national offering. We've also negotiated a detailed Terms of Reference for the National FLO Project, including project timelines, that we hope will be approved by ALLA National at their next Board meeting later this month.

While our team works on collating content for their jurisdictions, we have mapped the workflows (or work-FLO's if you will) of the modules. Work is progressing on developing the look and feel of the modules, with accessibility and integrity of the information being at the forefront of our learning design considerations.

Since our last project update, we have welcomed two new volunteers to help contribute New South Wales expertise. We are still looking for volunteers who would be willing to share their Northern Territory, Tasmanian and Queensland expertise. Please get in touch via the ALLA (WA) socials or email the ALLA (WA) Blog Editor and they will pass you on directly to Anastasia and Alice.

The National FLO Project Team will continue to provide updates via the ALLA (WA) Blog, and we will be presenting a preview of the new FLO modules at the ALLA Conference 2022. We hope to see you there in Hobart on 24-26 August 2022.
