IP Academic & Information Environmentalism Conferences: Call for Abstracts

The following announcement was distributed on various mailing lists. Apologies for cross-posting.

On 2-5 February 2016 the Faculty of Law of the University of Western Australia will host two consecutive intellectual property conferences in the historic and vibrant port city of Fremantle Western Australia:

  • Intellectual Property Academics Conference (2-4 February 2016)
  • Information Environmentalism Conference (4-5 February 2016)
The two conferences will likely overlap to some extent. The call for abstracts for both conferences can be found at the conference website. The call will remain open until 30 September 2015. Further details about each conference, including costs and accommodation, will be forthcoming on the website over the next few months.

Note that librarians are among those who are encouraged to submit abstracts for the Information Environmentalism Conference. The possible themes include:
  • Intellectual property and environmental sustainability
  • Creative commons/public domain/information commons
  • Open source and open access initiatives
  • Biopiracy and Indigenous information sovereignty
  • Industry examples of intellectual property over-reach
  • Emerging hybrid social production models (e.g. 3D printing, AirBnB, Uber, peer-to-peer finance)
  • New media and privacy violation (information pollution)

ALLA Conference 2018 - Call for Papers

Submissions are now open for the 2018 ALLA Conference!   The 2018 Conference will be held in Darwin, Northern Territory at the Doubletree by Hilton Esplanade and there will opportunities to visit law libraries and enjoy the array of culinary and cultural highlights of Darwin.
