Library Technician

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Library Technician to join our friendly library team on an ongoing part-time basis, working three days per week Wednesday to Friday.

If you have successfully completed tertiary studies as a Library Technician or Librarian in the library and information studies field then this job could be for you.

About the role

Reporting to the Knowledge Manager and jointly supervised by the Senior Librarian, this position is primarily responsible for the technical maintenance of the library collection.

This role is varied and will include duties such as serials management and current awareness circulation, legislation amendment, cataloguing, photocopying, inter-library loans, and intranet content editing.

One of the important, challenging and interesting parts to this role is providing reference and research support to the lawyers in the firm.

You will work with a friendly and supportive team and will be rewarded with a competitive salary. Support and comprehensive training will be provided to you especially if you are new to this specialist area of work.

About you

You will be a qualified Library Technician or Librarian with a confident manner and the ability to interact comfortably with other staff as well as external suppliers.

You will also need to demonstrate the following skills, attributes and experience;
· a high level of computer literacy and adaptability in order to be able to use, and to assist others in using, online research and information databases;
· an able learner in order to work with minimal supervision;
· prior experience in law libraries or corporate business libraries will be highly regarded;
· experience in providing legal reference services and familiarity with legal resources will also be highly regarded;
· it is desirable for you to have a good working knowledge of the library software ‘First’.

If you are a Library and Information Studies student who has just completed their final year of tertiary study in this area, your applications will be considered.
