Call for Abstracts Open - ALLA Conference 2022

The ALLA Conference is Australia’s national event for law librarians and law libraries. Conference delegates include ALLA members and other library and information professionals. 

Participation is anticipated from a range of organisations including private law firms, government departments, universities, courts and commercial organisations. 

The content of the conference will be of interest to library managers, librarians, library technicians, knowledge managers, knowledge consultants, chief information officers, and information professionals.

The 2022 Conference will be held in Hobart, Tasmania at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart and there will opportunities to visit law libraries and enjoy the array of culinary and cultural highlights of Hobart.

The Conference committee is looking for presentations that highlight the Conference theme THE NEW NORMAL.

Our sub-themes are as follows:

  • Post COVID considerations
  • Where to from here?
  • How have things changed?

If you are struggling to think of topics, have a think about:

  • Post COVID considerations: 
    • How has covid affected your work, your life, the library profession, the legal profession? 
  • What do we do from here: 
    • How do we deal with fake information and disinformation; how do we respond to the changes in society with regards to gender and cultural inequality? How can we as law librarians help these changes and change makers?
  • How have things changed: 
    • Legal history, how will legal history be recorded / accessed in the future? What is your favourite legal topic? Has it changed lately? How have the courts changed? Are trials now more like tv court?

Key dates for abstract submissions

  • Conference registration open March 2022
  • Call for abstracts closed 1 May 2022
  • Early bird registrations close / Deadline for presenting authors to register 8 July 2022
  • 2022 ALLA Conference 24 – 26 August 2022

Keeping Up With ALLA (WA) News

In March 2023 we announced the  closure of the Allgwa list , and welcomed the arrival of the  ALLA (WA) Google Group .  To take full advantage of the Google Group - particularly the ability to deliver news directly to your inbox - the ALLA (WA) Committee has made the decision to cease posting to the ALLA (WA) Blog.  ALLA (WA) Members are encouraged to join the Google Group to make sure they don’t miss out on key news, events, job opportunities from the committee and our members.  Over the past twelve and a half years we've have over 208636 visitors (and still counting) to the ALLA (WA) Blog, from all over the world. Copyright training 27th July

The Australian Libraries Copyright Committee is offering training sessions in Perth on Monday, 27 July. The sessions are free to to member organisations and their employees - ALIA, NSLA, CAUL, NLA, AGLIN, NAA, CAARA and Aust Soc Archivists ( note: ALLA is not included ).
