Leadership Lessons

Heather Gray-Grant is business strategist, marketing expert and executive coach who recently wrote a piece for Slaw entitled "Don't Alientate Your Firm with Your Decisions". 

The piece is worth a read for any leader, whether they be in a management position or not. 

She lists a number of leadership traps to avoid:

  1. Decisions based on emotion
  2. Decisions based on gut feel rather than research and evidence
  3. Decisions without feedback from the appropriate constituencies
  4. A change in a decision without an appropriate process
  5. Insufficient communication. 
Gray-Grant end the piece with a warning for leaders, 
Leadership is about making decisions. It’s also about having willing followers. Leaders who forget that make ego-based decisions that will eventually lose the trust of their followers. They may tell or show you that they lack trust in you, they may sabotage you, they may put you down in front of others, or they may simply become apathetic to your leadership. But there will be consequences.

Curtin University Law School now in the city

Curtin University has opened a new Law School campus in Perth’s Central Business District within an existing 1912 heritage listed building located at 57 Murray Street. Situated in the Perth CBD in close proximity to the Supreme Court, District Court and Perth Magistrate’s Court, as well as statutory tribunals such as the State Administrative Tribunal, the city campus will facilitate student’s education within an applied industry setting in line with Curtin’s primary vision of developing job-ready graduates.
