Meet ALLA(WA): Lisa

Meet ALLA(WA) members through our "this is how I work" series. If you would like to be profiled, please contact us at allawablog@gmail.com.

I'm Lisa Webb, and this is how I work

Current gig: Customer Service Librarian, Law Library, Supreme Court of WA

One word that best describes how you work: Thorough

What’s your workplace setup like? Great, I have a very large desk in an office I share with Belinda. There is plenty of room for my frog collection. Half my day is spent at the front reference desk, and the other half of the day I catch up on my own work.

What apps, software, or tools do you love for legal research or general productivity? I really like the way Jade makes it so easy to pin point a citation or section of legislation in a case. I find this a great time saver. My favourite app for fun is ‘Cryptic crossword’, although I admit there are times when I have had enough and need to come back to it later with fresh eyes.

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life hack? Well this is not new to anyone, but it works for me, ‘plan and prioritise’.

What are you currently reading for work or for fun? The Eye of the Sheep by Sofie Laguna. She has written many children’s books and only a couple of adult fiction. I’m really enjoying the book which is written from the viewpoint of a young boy.

What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever received? Take opportunities to learn new skills and broaden your experience.

I’m passionate about….legislation. Just kidding, I’m really concerned about the environment and the need to take action now, to reduce the impact of global climate change!
