Systems Librarian (Brisbane)

McCullough Robertson has advertised for the a part-time (25 hours per week, flexible) Systems Librarian located in their Brisbane office. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manage, maintain and develop the online interfaces to Library content and services, including the library intranet pages;
  • Deliver a best practice information systems environment for the firm incorporating hardware, software, networking and online solutions;
  • Collaborate and liaise with IT to successfully test, install, integrate, and maintain digital library solutions to ensure corporate consistency and resolve support issues;
  • Coordinate the maintenance, management and development of the Library management system in order to provide effective automated services to the firm and enhance overall functionality of the software;
  • Monitor trends, identify and embrace emerging technologies;
  • Provide professional library services including legal and business research, user education, and undertake routine operational tasks; and
  • Ensure clients are provided with a positive, proactive and responsive customer service experience.

The successful candidate will have prior experience working in a library setting, along with a degree or diploma qualification in a recognised library or information studies related discipline and be eligible for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.

You must also demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated practical experience as a Library systems administrator;
  • Familiarity with DBTextWorks/TIMS or similar library management system;
  • Demonstrated practical experience using Microsoft office applications;
  • Knowledge of and experience with HTML, XML, JavaScript;
  • Knowledge of library standards and protocols e.g. Moys Classification Dewey Decimal, MARC; and 
  • An interest in Intranet and database design.

Desirable:
  • Prior experience working in a law library whether in a commercial firm, private practice, Court, Parliamentary or other legal services setting would be favourable.

Librarian, Collection Management (Perth)

Murdoch University Library has advertised for a continuous part time position as part of the Metadata and Collections team. 

Essential:
  • Completion of a degree; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to make presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively in a variety of teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of and interest in information technology developments as related to library services and initiatives

Desirable: 
  • Experience in collection management, including the selection, review and deselection of resources
