Law Firm Library Closure - Items Available

Kott Gunning – news of closure from 3 Dec 2021

You may have heard the news that Kott Gunning’s equity partners have made the decision to dissolve the partnership, with a dissolution date of 3 December 2021; Kott Gunning will cease to trade from this date.

As you may know, Kott Gunning is a 102 year old independent Western Australian firm with a long and proud history within WA’s legal landscape, so this decision is not one that has been taken lightly. Although all partners intend to continue practising law at various national firms, they will not be taking all of Kott Gunning’s historic print library with them to their new locations.

Therefore Kott Gunning is looking to sell (or donate) the following collections (and more!), and welcomes expressions of interest:

  • Statutes of WA – 1892 to 2013 (noting that some of the more historic ones are reprints rather than originals, but there are many originals)
  • CLR – 1903 to 2020 (aka Vol 1 to 268)
  • WAR – 1899 to 2020
  • ALR – 1973 to 2008 (aka Vol 1 to 247)
  • All England Law Reports – Queens/Kings Bench Division – 1899 to 1997
  • All England Law Reports – Appeal cases – 1891 to 1990
  • All England Law Reports – these date way back, but as reprints – the oldest original dates from 1936
  • Australian Criminal Reports 1979 – 1997 (Vol 1 to 86)
  • Industrial Reports 1983 to 1997 (Vol 8 to 71)

If you are interested in these please contact Melissa Stanton, CFO Kott Gunning. They welcome inspections.
