2021 ALLA (WA) Conference Bursary Recipients - Conference Wrap-Up

This year the ALLA (WA) Committee was pleased to offer ALLA (WA) members Kate Hewit and Vidagdha Bennett bursaries to attend ALLA's first ever, and slightly delayed, virtual conference. Kott Gunning – news of closure from 3 Dec 2021 You may have heard the news that Kott Gunning’s equity partners have made the decision to dissolve the partnership, with a dissolution date of 3 December 2021; Kott Gunning will cease to trade from this date. 9 Tips for Getting the Most out of ALLA's Virtual Conference 2021

 ALLA’s first ever virtual conference is less than a day away, and sure, by now Zoom and Teams and virtual webinars have become standard (thanks Covid), but if you’re looking at two days of online conferencing this can be quite daunting. To help we’ve pulled together some tips on how to get the most out of (or just survive) an online conference. Hi ALLA (WA) Members, Just a reminder that the ALLA Conference 2021 takes place this week – Kicking off on Thursday 23 September with a Welcoming Address from Her Honour Chief Justice Helen Murrell from the ACT Supreme Court, followed by a Keynote Address by the Honourable Justice Stephen Gageler AC from the High Court of Australia. Due to Covid restrictions, the conference is being held virtually. This allows us all to access the program of speakers and events this year from the safety of our home or workplace. ALLA members would have received an email from Emma Joneshart, President of ALLA Ltd regarding a call for nominations for members to join the ALLA Ltd Board of Directors. Nominations will be voted upon at the ALLA AGM, held on Thursday 23 September during the ALLA Virtual Conference 2021 . The ALLA Ltd Board of Directors is an important part of the Australian Law Librarians' Association's governance. ALLA Virtual Conference 2021 - Program & Bursaries

It's ALLA Virtual Conference 2021 Month! Law Council of Australia Webinar: Frontline Legal Services in Times of Crisis

The Law Council of Australia is delivering an online webinar of the topic of "Frontline legal services in times of crisis".  The legal assistance sector has carried many Australians through times of extreme crisis, with recent years no exception – from bushfires to the COVID-19 pandemic. This webinar will explore the achievements of the sector in trying times, and examine the challenges it has come up against. Leaders in the sector Rowan McRae, Nassim Arrange and David Woodroffe will join with the Law Council’s President, Dr Jacoba Brasch QC, to identify improvements to be made so that the sector is better equipped to respond in future emergencies.
